1958-1961. The first field work trip of Moerman in Thailand. He spent almost 3 years to collected field data about the Lue society, tradition, culture, and daily life of Tai Lue community at Ban Phaed, Payao province. 3295 records of slide, photograph, punch card, letter, notebook, typescript, and map.

| July 14, 1969. Sergent Winit consulted Bodin about his land. His father had inherited the land. Later, his uncle took the document to change the name of his father into the name of his the uncle, to make a sale without his father’s acknowledgment. His father had since passed away, and his uncle sold the land with right of redemption for the amount of 60,000 Baht. Currently its value had risen up to 80,000 Baht. But he would not receive the 20,000 baht of difference to settle the case. He thought that the borrower and his uncle might be responsible for an act of swindling. | Punch card

The court registrar acting as broker

| 18 Jun 1969 Bodin secretly heard a woman talk to a court registrar and he made the recommendation to go to Prawin’s law firm. It was regarding a court filing in which a Chinese company in Chiang Mai (?) was suing her. The court registrar secretly read the lawsuit, and he recommended her to see the lawyer, so that he would gain commission from the attorney. | Punch card

An official of provincial administration revealed illegal possession of gun

| June 10, 1969. A guard carried a gun. An officer of the district authorities commented that the guard should keep the gun in secret, and the police would not cause a problem if the chief district officer guaranteed it. However, the district administration officer refused to do so. The police recorded the incident in the daily log and would proceed to the next step. Suthon went to see the PP to reduce the penalty for the accused by requesting the payment of a fine instead of imprisonment. | Punch card

Settlement of conflict at the police station of Saraphi district

| May 6, 1969. Mr. Seang Niam had hired people to paint a building and did not pay their wages. The employees lodged a complaint about him at the police station. The police had called Seang Niam to settle the conflict more than five times, and he had refused to comply. Later, after the sixth call Seang Niam came and said that he had no money to pay and the cheque paid formerly had bounced. The police gave notice to Seang Niam that if he did not pay the employees, he would have to be imprisoned. Seang Niam asked them to not complain about the bounced cheque. Later, he brought the money to pay the employees, and Bodin recorded it as evidence. | Punch card

Dispute over land at Cho: IE:

| March 8, 1969. The families of two brothers were the family Ae and the family Nang Ta. They were in conflict because both sides had built fences on the edge of each other’s property. It lead to a problem that could not be resolved. In addition, they were unable to settle the management of land that had been inherited from their parents because there was no testament. The family Nang Ta threatened the Family Ae to close the door to his house. In fact the family Ae's house was located behind the family Nang's house, so it was a common entrance. There were other incidents, which had caused the members of the two families not to talk to each other. However, the negotiation of inheritance had to be by the consent of both parties. | Punch card

Government authorities in the Nan

| June 15, 1969. There was corruption in Nan. Some money was missing from the budget. Udom, who was the Deputy Governor, was suspected. Later the lawsuit was brought to the Supreme Court of Nan. Moerman observed that an administration official had had a lengthy conversation with the President of the Supreme Court. Moerman did not know how the court would approach the case. | Punch card

| April 26, 1969. In Chiang Mai, there were many well-known clans, but there were only two who were in politics, the Worasuk and the Nimmanhaemindra. The latter clan had Chinese roots. The father of Bodin himself was half Chinese, but no one interested in the fact. | Punch card

Elections in Chiang Mai

| February 13, 1969. Moerman made notes about an election. The candidates were renowned and would be elected to the National Council. However, many officers in the court were worried about corruption because the cases of ballot papers from Mae Cham had arrived late and they had heard about people arrested by the police on charges of corruption. He dropped twelve election ballots in the case. It was expected that the election would be void. | Punch card

| December 30, 1968. An old woman told Pichat about misreading the ballot as a voided ballot, and then the officer had thrown it away. According to Pichat, the story she told was impossible because the electoral count had been witnessed. | Punch card

| June 18, 1969. Moerman secretly heard talk of a police commander from Nan, PP in Nan and the head J. pending the Supreme Court president. They talked about the fee for the lawsuit proceedings in Chiang Mai; the cost was higher than elsewhere. They mentioned a new officer at the commission to substitute the current one in the court or the department. | Punch card
