| Dispute over trees An old woman accuses a young woman of destroying her trees by watering them with saline solution. The young woman refutes the accusation, whereupon the old woman brings as evidence a letter of confession which the young woman has apparently signed. The young woman says that she wrote the letter in order to get the old woman off her back. | Irrigation in San Pa Tong District According to a report by Paul T. Cohen, there are several interesting points about the irrigation system in San Pa Tong District; for example: 1) people claim to have more dikes, 2) how to select the chief of dikes, 3) the roles of villagers who have benefitted from the dikes, 4) villagers who do not help their neighbors to build the dikes are required to pay a fine, although if someone does not help, they can offer rice instead of manpower, 5) regarding the dispute between Sombun and Khampun, Sombun used his authority to threaten villagers, but Khampun stood up against him to claim the villagers’ rights. | Punch card
