Scope and content : Farming conference In mid-October 1968 Moerman receives a government scholarship to attend a conference on agricultural development in Taiwan. Moerman hopes to use what he has learned to help villagers in their development plans. He cites the advantages of farming in Taiwan, namely: 1) personnel to educate the farmers, 2) the relatively small acreage of agricultural plots, making them conducive to management and maintenance.
