1958-1961. The first field work trip of Moerman in Thailand. He spent almost 3 years to collected field data about the Lue society, tradition, culture, and daily life of Tai Lue community at Ban Phaed, Payao province. 3295 records of slide, photograph, punch card, letter, notebook, typescript, and map.

| May 10, 1960. Two thieves who robbed a grocery store in Ban Wan obtained property valued at 1,000 baht and a silver-carved belt. Before the robbers fled, they shot the storeowner. | September 1, 1960. N.Ta sold the cows of Thamacaj to a trader from the town of Phayao province by claiming that cows were sore and unable to come back. | The village headman borrowed money from Moerman, and he had not been repaid. He said that he would travel to the town of Phayao to buy a new cow. June 15, 1960. Headman's daughter

| March 6, 1961. The headman's daughter returned home to stay with her parents. But the headman did not allow his daughter to stay at home because she refused to help with work and behaved badly in affairs with men.
