1958-1961. The first field work trip of Moerman in Thailand. He spent almost 3 years to collected field data about the Lue society, tradition, culture, and daily life of Tai Lue community at Ban Phaed, Payao province. 3295 records of slide, photograph, punch card, letter, notebook, typescript, and map.

Student intern of Chiang Mai University

| August 10, 1969. Rujirawan protested the arrangements for student interns in Chiang Mai, such as there was no accommodation and the relatives of Rujirawan had to move to the same school. When they found out the news, they were not very satisfied, and the tuition fee increased considerably. She thought to report on this in the Khon Muang newspaper. | Punch card

| December 9, 1968. Moerman visited the Governor of Nan to pay a courtesy call. The governor and his wife invited him to make merit at the temple together with their family. But Moerman would not go, in order to not bother their family. | Punch card

| December 8, 1968. Thawee suggested to Moerman to visit the Governor of Nan province, as he liked speaking English. His wife had no children, but she would like to have one. They traveled to places to pray to have a baby in Laos, Doi Suthep, Nan, Phrae, etc., and she was never discouraged. | Punch card

Pakorn, chief district officer

| November 6, 1968. Pakorn was Chief District Officer of Mae Thaeng district. He wanted Moerman to conduct research in the district to ensure effective management. Moerman began to study teenagers and count the number of areas where electricity was available. On November 20 he organized a meeting at the school and invited Dean Nibondh and Clark Neher. But he was not sure that they were able to come. | Punch card

Pakorn, Chief District Officer

| Clark reported that the Chief District Officer of Mae Tang was “well-known” for corruption, like pricing a home at 1500 baht, when the actual price about 750 baht. He also got money from road construction. Moerman did not share this idea, and he saw the officer as respectful and an efficient worker. | Punch card

| November 9, 1968. Gibson said Nirundon, the provincial governor, after knowing that the court did not accept the election of a municipal council, refused not to talk about legislation. Although Prapat did not like him, the King and the Queen liked him because he was preparing a welcome for them when they came to visit to Chiang Mai. | Punch card

The first visit with Clark Neher

| October 1968. Moerman and Clark Neher went to visit the monk who introduced teachings through radio broadcast in the north. The monk wanted to record teachings on tapes instead of talking with a microphone. The monk also proposed a renaming of the temple, but the head and other monks were called for a meeting. The monk was also accused of being a communist, and so he needed evidence of his broadcasts on radio because he wanted to prove that he was not communist and he was truly Thai. | Punch card

Suchart

| October 1968. Suchart was a former mayor of Chiang Mai. He was accused and charged by the Bangkok Court in a case of fraudulent land sale, because a prince wanted to sell the land and give the commission to a broker. Suchart refused to pay the commission. Suchart paid a bribe to the jurors to avoid imprisonment, but the brother of the prince knew about this and reported it to the court. Suchart was guilty and he planned to appeal. | Punch card
