April 26, 1969. In Chiang Mai, there were many well-known clans, but there were only two who were in politics, the Worasuk and the Nimmanhaemindra. The latter clan had Chinese roots. The father of Bodin himself was half Chinese, but no one interested in the fact.

Elections in Chiang Mai

February 13, 1969. Moerman made notes about an election. The candidates were renowned and would be elected to the National Council. However, many officers in the court were worried about corruption because the cases of ballot papers from Mae Cham had arrived late and they had heard about people arrested by the police on charges of corruption. He dropped twelve election ballots in the case. It was expected that the election would be void.

Municipal election

December 30, 1968. An old woman told Pichat about misreading the ballot as a voided ballot, and then the officer had thrown it away. According to Pichat, the story she told was impossible because the electoral count had been witnessed.

Talking after lunch, pending the Supreme Court president.

June 18, 1969. Moerman secretly heard talk of a police commander from Nan, PP in Nan and the head J. pending the Supreme Court president. They talked about the fee for the lawsuit proceedings in Chiang Mai; the cost was higher than elsewhere. They mentioned a new officer at the commission to substitute the current one in the court or the department.

Somboon, candidate for representative from Nan.

December 11, 1968. Somboon was the brother of Thawee's wife. He was lawyer. Thawee was a candidate for the Democrat Party in local politics, and was trying to encourage his Somboon’s support for the government party. It would be useful for the development of Nan. Thawee also introduced Somboon to Sa-nga who was the younger brother of the Prime Minister. Thawee had tried to convince Sa-nga that Somboon was an honest man and shy, and that Somboon's wife had assisted him in meeting others. At the present time, he had lost his wife.

Politics in Chiang Mai

Moerman made notes on a variety of issues. First, there was talk about the politics of the election in Chiang Mai. Mayor Chinda and his groups may be defeated because they gained only 13 seats out of 24. Second, the central government program for the power plantation in Chiang Mai. The budget was derived from municipal taxes that were an important source of income. Third, the names of people who were easy to remind and the names of famous people would be listed at the beginning of the party list.

The political campaign of the Wiangphing Development Party for municipal election

December 17, 1968. The party campaigned for election through the use of audio and music settings that smeared the formerly elected party. It had also tried to convince people to favor its side.

Celebrating Thammasat Day in Nan

December 10, 1968. The hall was well appointed, and many officials came to dance. The photographers took pictures, and most of them sat quietly and ate slowly. There were about 300 attendees, including 82 former graduates from Thammasat University.

Temple visit

November 4, 1968. The day after tomorrow would be Loy Krathong. [i.e. a Thai traditional festival in which people would pay respect to the deity of water.] Som had invited Moerman to make a merit at the temple. She believed that she would gain more merit because the day before the festival, there would be few villagers coming to the temple to offer food to the monks. So when the monks ate more of the food she donated, she would gain more merit. After the meal, they went to Viahara to offer incense sticks, flowers, and candles. There were many people in meditation and all were dressed with the best available clothing.
