Scope and content : November 4, 1968. The day after tomorrow would be Loy Krathong. [i.e. a Thai traditional festival in which people would pay respect to the deity of water.] Som had invited Moerman to make a merit at the temple. She believed that she would gain more merit because the day before the festival, there would be few villagers coming to the temple to offer food to the monks. So when the monks ate more of the food she donated, she would gain more merit. After the meal, they went to Viahara to offer incense sticks, flowers, and candles. There were many people in meditation and all were dressed with the best available clothing.
