Land case, late November.

In late November Moerman attended a mediation concerning a case over terrain. (the document includes a map showing where different people were placed in the courtroom.)

Buffalo theft.

June 22, 1968. A young man was accused of stealing buffalo, but there was not enough evidence. The witnesses saw the defendant at night and they could not determine whether the defendant was with animals, and which kind. The court dismissed the lawsuit for this reason. Later the police found the missing buffalo. (Moerman represented the information by utilizing a number to indicate people in the courtroom, the map also shows the location of the people).

Corruption in the telegraph dept.

December 16, 1968. Fraud in the case of the Department of Telegraph, with damages estimated as more than 10 million baht. The judge focused specifically on the details of the telegraph poles and wires. On 18 June1969 this case was still in the process because it was difficult to find evidence for the bribes that contractors paid to the defendant. From an initial investigation it was found that the telegraph poles were installed, but they were not standardized. But because of bribes from the contractors, those who were responsible approved it.

Tom boy accused of helping to steal a motorcycle.

Late November a couple, a man and woman, were arrested on charges of stealing vehicles. The woman claimed that the man persuaded her to ride a motorcycle without knowing that the motorcycle was stolen. Lastly, the man confessed and accepted that the woman was not involved. She was acquitted. The court sentenced the man to imprisonment, but the sentence was suspended (Moerman noted everything that happens including court attires, answers and questions, and the interactions of the people in the court).

Woman comes to judge to ask for lighter penalty in heroin case.

February 6, 1969. A 70-year-old woman was arrested in a case of heroin trade, but because of her age, the court considered a reduction of the penalty.

Lampang sugar factory versus Bangkok Bank of Commerce.

November 22, 1968. Boonting became the defendant because of an assault. (Moerman carefully noted everything that happened in the court, including the attires, questions- and answers, and the interaction of the people in the court).

Chinese immigrants.

January 31, 1969. The police mistakenly believed that the Yao family were illegal Chinese immigrants, and they were caught. In fact that the Yao family lived in the mountains and ran a trade with the military Guo Min Tang.

Man accused of having an unlicensed shop to repair guns.

January 31, 1969. The defendant claimed that the devices were used to repair the rice mill. They were not for repairing the gun. The defendant would be punished in this case with 15 years of imprisonment.

False accusation as counter-suit to defamation.

December 13, 1968. The client of Thawee secretly told the police that the plaintiff committed adultery with a young man, and she became pregnant. She was sued by the plaintiff due to alleging defamation. Thawee's client counter-sued the plaintiff. She insisted that the stories were real.
