1958-1961. The first field work trip of Moerman in Thailand. He spent almost 3 years to collected field data about the Lue society, tradition, culture, and daily life of Tai Lue community at Ban Phaed, Payao province. 3295 records of slide, photograph, punch card, letter, notebook, typescript, and map.

| 23 Jan 1969 Chalermchai gives information on the following: (1) Corruption of students, (2) a man who was working for Chamnan was arrested on charges of being a communist, (3) giving a gift to congratulate the boss is common. If someone does not comply, he may face difficulty in his job, (4) the bribery of tax officials who allow Laotian people to migrate illegally into the country, 5) graft among the police. | Punch card

| March 1, 1969. Nan Thong and Po Sang talk to Moerman about the people's feelings towards the military and the police. Most people like the soldiers, as they offer assistance free of charge. They also discuss conflicts between the military and the police. Chaweng has compiled a list of the establishment of farming co-operatives, in which the group members can borrow money in order to buy cattle. | Punch card

| Moerman refers to ‘Structural Anthropology’ by Levi-Strauss, in which the author notes that songs are used for a difficult childbirth, and that this allows the local women of Central and South America to deliver their babies more easily than women in Western societies. Although new legislation will allow the accused to be granted bail immediately after arrest, defendants also agree to pay bribes to the police to secure bail more easily.
