1958-1961. The first field work trip of Moerman in Thailand. He spent almost 3 years to collected field data about the Lue society, tradition, culture, and daily life of Tai Lue community at Ban Phaed, Payao province. 3295 records of slide, photograph, punch card, letter, notebook, typescript, and map.

If the monks found to be engaging in gambling, whether outside or inside the temple, they must be caught and would be punished by law. | September 21, 1960. M. Kham was arrested in the group of gamblers. He did not give the name of anyone else, because if he did so, it would cover almost the whole village. Bunsi wanted to know who had persuaded the monks to gamble. That person might be fined. | Punch card

| September 21, 1960. N. Kew CB shared information that the students who were arrested had to go to the CR on 27 September. The elders might be responsible for the monks who had engaged in misconduct. September 22, 1960. Before closing the meeting, NA told everyone that gambling was illegal. Even in some villages there were monks and novices who engaged in gambling, but it was bad and became a big issue for religion. September 23, 1960. NA informed that he knew the names of the gambling monks. The headman could also be considered to have committed an error in letting this kind of incident occur. | Punch card

Kasem seemed to know about it all, and he went to the police station while asking the villagers to wait.
