1958-1961. The first field work trip of Moerman in Thailand. He spent almost 3 years to collected field data about the Lue society, tradition, culture, and daily life of Tai Lue community at Ban Phaed, Payao province. 3295 records of slide, photograph, punch card, letter, notebook, typescript, and map.

| July 5, 1965. The headman of CB aimed to clean up a problem over the land. He sued the land administrative assistant, when the Sub-district Administrative Chief claimed the land for farming had no valid documents. The owner of land, N. Wan, was allowed to cultivate only 20 rai instead of 100 rai. Later the Sub-district Administrative Chief incited the village headman. The latter shot the slingshot to N. Wan, who drew a gun to threaten him. NA called the police. Later N. Wan asked apology from NA. | Punch card

| June 15, 1965. The daughter of Suk should sometimes come to visit Moerman and the family. No one blamed the child, who had no father. Me. Hang could not be abused for calling on the single mother. The name such woman would be called by using the name of the child, after the child was aged of a month. | Punch card

Marriage

| June 19, 1965. Moerman noted various data. First, the Kwan tie ceremony where people came from far away to participate. Second, in Thai law girls who were aged less than 20 years were prohibited from marriage. Third, Saj was unable to marry until she repays all of the debt. Fourth, to have little wives, there should be a Su Kwan ceremony [welcoming spirit?]; for example, M. Kan had three wives, and he would organize the ceremony respectively. | Punch card

| June 19, 1965. Saj did not want to marry Suk because she had many children and was with Me. Hang several times. Her behaviour was considered as unfavourable. Women were more controlled in marriage and re-marriage than the men were. | Punch card

Sex and pregnancy

| November 26, 1960. To become pregnant it was necessary to have sex. After becoming pregnant, the woman could continue to have sex until her belly was big and it was not easy to sex. December 13, 1960. There was a ceremony to offer a chicken to the guardian spirit of the village in order to conceive a child after marriage. The woman at the beginning of pregnancy was slim. She would be called Me. Mha [mom of dog]. Later she was called Me. Moo [mom of pig]. | Punch card

| September 21, 1960. Saj and Coj felt that they had to stay at the temple after end of the Buddhist status (three days of staying in karma.) October 19, 1960 three offenders had been released. The police asked for 500 baht each before the release. | Punch card

| September 28, 1960. The offence resulted in shame for the monastery. Therefore, the convicted monks should take responsibility for this. Two monks left the Buddhist monkhood, and it became scandalous story. | Punch card

| September 26, 1960. Three monks were captured because they transgressed the discipline by gambling. In fact, it should be good enough because the villagers made offerings and they did not work hard in rice field. | Punch card
