Southern Thailand

Scope and content :

This series consist of 35 sound recordings (29 hour 16 minute). These records are sound of interviewing 40 people in southern Thailand; Suratthani, Songkhla, Nakhonsi Thammarat, and Trang, from 1979 to 1983. The methodological approach he used to gather data is called "oral history". Chatthip travelled to numerous villages, seeking out knowledgeable village elders for their perspectives on past and present. It interview are the story of habitation, social life, occupation, belief etc. Chatthip used these data to be a source of his book "The Thai Village Economy in the Past".
