Scope and content :

The collection consists of 126 photographs which were taken by Prasert Chaipikusit during his social science research about hill-tribes people in Thailand. They were taken in different period of time; 1968-1970, 1974-1977, 1984-1985, and 1998 . The material is photograph of Lisu Karen Aka Lahu and Mlabri in Chiangmai, Chiangrai, Mae Hong Son, and Uthai Thani. The picture portrayed the way of life of each ethnic group; house, food, traditional costume, ceremony, agriculture, as well as belief and ritual like spirit worship and ancestral worship.

According to Lisu belief, such stream spirits require the building of a bridge by anyone whom the spirit has made unwell, and bridges are thus built at the suggestion of a shaman. | 1968 | Blossoming poppy fields in 1969. Members of various hill tribes (Hmong, Yao, Lahu, Lisu, Akha) plant seeds from the opium poppy for the resinous gum it produces.
