Scope and content :

This series consist of 171 photographs that Dr. Anan Ganjanapan took during his fieldwork in Mae Hong Son province in 1987. The picture portrayed the way of life of Lua ethnicity group, traditional costume, weaving, house, as well as guardian spirit ritual that displayed process of ritual, participant, offering, place, and belief. Moreover there are also pictures of Lua wedding ceremony that portrayed process of ceremony, costume, food, play, and belief.

Every household wraps up a banana leaf filled with grilled chicken and glutinous rice and brings it to the spirit house. The chickens are believed to represent the household. Girls are only permitted to observe the ritual from the food preparation area, and cannot enter the ritual area itself. | Slide
