1958-1961. The first field work trip of Moerman in Thailand. He spent almost 3 years to collected field data about the Lue society, tradition, culture, and daily life of Tai Lue community at Ban Phaed, Payao province. 3295 records of slide, photograph, punch card, letter, notebook, typescript, and map.

| April 28, 1960. The principal came to meet the headman to talk about the census that the government was conducting. In the afternoon Don, a teacher, came to prepare the work plan, which would start the census on the next day. | Punch card

Many people took their cloth chata: [tradition birth certificates] in which the date of birth was inscribed with the Lanna letters [traditional language in the North - translator]. Meeting at the temple

| April 11, 1960. At a meeting two issues were discussed. Firstly, they intended to hire contractors from outside to repair the temple, in order to avoid expending their energy. Secondly, regarding the village headman, who had secretly taken for personal use money which was designated for the monastery. | Punch card

Mandate for the assistant village headman

| April 28, 1960. The assistant village headman called villagers to a meeting, and announced that the authorities had set a new rule for the position of assistant village headman. It had to be renewed every two years. He himself was retiring on that day, but many people wanted him to stay for another term, including the village headman. | Punch card
