1958-1961. The first field work trip of Moerman in Thailand. He spent almost 3 years to collected field data about the Lue society, tradition, culture, and daily life of Tai Lue community at Ban Phaed, Payao province. 3295 records of slide, photograph, punch card, letter, notebook, typescript, and map.

| Carrying illegal guns in public Jan 28, 1969. Moerman attends the police station to observe situations in which, for example: 1) a boy carries illegal guns to a festival (possibly at a monastery). As the boy is a minor, he simply gets a warning and has to pay a fine, and the incident is recorded in the police diary log, 2) a lieutenant at Mae Rim District police station drove and hit a passer-by, after which the car was impounded and the officer forced to pay compensation before his car was released, 3) illegal immigrants from China were arrested by the police and were being prepared for repatriation. | Punch card
