1958-1961. The first field work trip of Moerman in Thailand. He spent almost 3 years to collected field data about the Lue society, tradition, culture, and daily life of Tai Lue community at Ban Phaed, Payao province. 3295 records of slide, photograph, punch card, letter, notebook, typescript, and map.

Rain destroys some ripe rice.

| Because of rain, the harvest was delayed. The harvested rice was delayed since it was soaking from rain, and wet rice was unable to be threshed, it had to be dried in the sunlight. This year the rice cost would be expensive because of the damage from the rain. | Punch card

| After the rice was planted, the villagers would care for the rice through the prevention of insects. They provided offerings to insects or to the guardian spirit to protect the rice. If someone had money, they could buy and use insecticide. | Punch card
