1958-1961. The first field work trip of Moerman in Thailand. He spent almost 3 years to collected field data about the Lue society, tradition, culture, and daily life of Tai Lue community at Ban Phaed, Payao province. 3295 records of slide, photograph, punch card, letter, notebook, typescript, and map.

| Maha Songkran Day was the first day of the Thai New Year. On this day villagers clean their houses, and buy supplies for making merit. A prohibition on 15 April. | Punch card

| Activities on the day prior to the first day of Songkran. Preparations for the Songkran celebrations included buying supplies, making food and dessert for the new year celebrations, water-splashing, and carrying sand from the river to the temple. | Punch card
