1958-1961. The first field work trip of Moerman in Thailand. He spent almost 3 years to collected field data about the Lue society, tradition, culture, and daily life of Tai Lue community at Ban Phaed, Payao province. 3295 records of slide, photograph, punch card, letter, notebook, typescript, and map.

Nomination of new members of the sub-district council

| August 16, 1960. The meeting aimed to nominate representatives from the village as new district council members. The headman asked villagers for their assistance to transport sand and stone by cart, in order to construct roads on the following day. | Punch card

| January 24, 1961. The village headman called the villagers for a meeting on various topics. 1) He requested that the villagers to pay a land tax at the district authorities. Some villagers complained that they had no money to pay taxes with until they could sell rice. 2) The villagers would bring the birth certificates of their child to enroll them at the school. 3) The villagers were asked to prioritize about the queue to use the tractor of Kamnan. 4) The authorities allowed the villagers access to land that was deserted at the end of the village. | Punch card

| February 7, 1961 At the monthly meeting of the village, various topics were addressed: 1) High-rank bureaucrats would inspect the construction of the road. 2) The villagers needed to apply for warrants for the land holdings. 3) It was necessary to notify at the district authorities of any children that were born this year. 4) At the meeting the villagers were concerned about the threat from communism. The village headman asked Moerman to accompany them the communists invaded. | Punch card

| The village headman called a meeting, various topics were addressed: 1) The chief district officer would sell drugs at a good price. 2) The villagers had helped construct a road. The length of road was approximately 29 wa [the tradition measure equals two metres – translator], and sections were chosen as result of drawing lots. 3) Anyone who did not pay taxes should not forget to pay taxes. 4) Kamnan wanted to buy land adjacent to the pond at Tung Lo. If anyone was interested in selling, he/she should make an offer to Kamnan. | Punch card

| February 19, 1961. The headman called the Village Committee for a meeting, various topics were addressed: 1) Noting a group of people who refused to help with the construction of roads. 2) Keeping the bathroom clean and protection from fire. 3) Khamwaw stole the horse of the village headman to sell. 4) There was arson of barns in the other villages. The headman asked the villagers to take awareness of the threat of fire very seriously. | Punch card
