Scope and content : Moerman refers to Perelman's work (1963) on the differences between scientists /academics and judges. While scientists and scholars have a choice of what to study, judges cannot choose the cases over which they preside. Moreover, in searching for answers, scientists and academics rely on observation and then analyze the data obtained, whereas judges must consider and verify the evidence and express it in verbal form.
