Professor Chin Yudee was born on 24 February 1912. He graduated from Thammasat University in 1948. He also received Honorary Ph.D. in Archeology in 1974 and Honorary Ph.D. in Sociology and Anthropology in 1984. He took posts of Chief of National Museum Bangkok, Chief of Academic Division, Chief of Archaeological Division, Chief Curator, Expert Curator accordingly. After his retirement, the Department of Fine Arts invited him to be Expert in Archaeology.
Professor Chin conducted various archaeological research projects, for instance Excavation in Kanchanaburi and Rajburi in 1960-1962. From his research, it resulted in knowledge on pre-historic human beings (in Stone Age and Metal Age) in the areas. He also supervised restoration ancient sites in Sukhothai, Chiang Saen, Kampaengpetch in 1952 – 1969. Later he also worked on the restoration projects of Ancient Sites in Ayutthaya provinces and related areas in 1953 – 1961, and later in Prasat Hin Phanom Rung, Burirum in 1974 – 1975.
Professor Chin was praised from archeologists both in national and international communities because of his in-depth pre-history studies, field experience and teaching in archeology. His researches profoundly contributed to archeology, and became important person for Thai Pre-Historic Studies.
Prof. Chin Yudee's materials consist of 403 records of notebook and paper note, photograph, typescript, letter, book and card that were produced from 1962 to 1985. It was divided into three series; archaeological fieldwork material, official document when he was working for Fine Arts Department, and personal document. All materials reflecting Prof. Chin's working life as an archaeologist.
