Japanese Techniques

Japanese utilization of the technique of tillage-irrigation (TI). TI aimed to soften the soil, to hasten organic decomposition, and to mix soil and fertilizer. During crop growth, in the autumn and the winter, they plowed deeply. Later, they plowed in summer. Irrigation would soften soil and clean the plant roots before transplantating to the seedbed.
