Maha Songkran Day was the first day of the Thai New Year. On this day villagers clean their houses, and buy supplies for making merit. A prohibition on 15 April.

Activities on the day prior to the first day of Songkran. Preparations for the Songkran celebrations included buying supplies, making food and dessert for the new year celebrations, water-splashing, and carrying sand from the river to the temple.

On Songkran day, the villager's activities at home after returning from the temple. People engage in a ritual in order to ask for forgiveness from an elder or a person to whom they pay respect.

On Songkran day, the villagers ask for forgiveness from a monk by pouring water onto the monk, and then ask for forgiveness from a village spirit and elders to whom they pay respect. Water is splashed for the entire day.
